Brenda Baker has a passion for the process of creating functional and decorative pieces in traditional shapes. Her love for nature is often found in her designs with ivy carved or cut out on many of her pieces and this has come to be her trademark.  She uses a dark clay and white slip as the base for her carvings and spends many hours creating intricate designs.  She has overcome a lot of adversity in her life to continue her artistic endeavors including the loss of her husband, the onset of MS, and the loss of her studio in a hurricane. At the time I interviewed her, she had just broken her leg in 7 places by falling out of a tree while trimming limbs. But, she's back to the studio and creating new works. You'll enjoy her interview and the positive outlook she has on life and art.
